19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
