I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round fight which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.

Briton Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the pair came face-to-face to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.

Ex two time world title holder Anthony Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami arena on December 19th.

Fighter's Attitude

"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show my superiority," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I intend to seriously aim to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - normally recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul instead criticized former Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Nevertheless, the novice remains one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, consistently making huge financial rewards.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28-year-old predicted a stoppage in round four or five and stated he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly in the works for 2026.

"It's going to be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters participated in the customary stare-down, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is truly proceeding.
